Two police officers were injured during a protest against epidemiological restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic, which is taking place in Warsaw, Warsaw police spokesman Sylvester Marczak told reporters.
On Saturday, several hundred people gathered at the Parades Square in the center of Warsaw to protest against the epidemiological restrictions.

Afterward, they marched through the streets of Warsaw. Protests against the restrictive measures are taking place over the weekend in a number of countries. In particular, people took to the streets in Germany, Poland, Finland and the Netherlands.

«Police officers were attacked. A female police officer was hit by the aggressor, and a male police officer was hit on the head with a rock. Both of them were taken to the hospital, » Marchak said.

He noted that the police in response » acted decisively, using means of direct coercion in the form of physical force, rubber sticks, gas canisters and stun grenades.»

According to Marchuk, several people were detained during the clashes, including people who are wanted. «Several people were also detained for drug possession, violation of bodily integrity, insulting officials,» the police spokesman added, without specifying how many people were detained in total.
Due to the high number of detected cases of coronavirus, the Polish government has introduced a national quarantine. Since Saturday, a kickdown regime has been introduced throughout the country, which will last until April 9.
