The mayor against the mass pilgrimage of Hasidim to the background of the situation with COVID-19
The mayor of Uman, Alexander Tsebri, said that he is ready to take drastic measures to prevent Hasidic pilgrims from entering the city because of the situation with the coronavirus. According to him, the city can set up roadblocks at the entrances.
According to him, he received an invitation to a meeting of the state Commission of TEB and emergency situations, which on August 11 allowed the presence of 5 to 10 thousand Hasidic pilgrims in Uman. At today’s meeting, the Commission confirmed the decision and stated that it is not subject to correction.
«Therefore, I am ready to take the most drastic measures, but within the framework of the current legislation. You remember how it was when roadblocks blocked the entrances to the territory of the city of Uman. This decision can be made by the TEB and the emergency service of the city of Uman. I want to hear your attitude to this, » — said Cebri to the residents of the city.
He also added that today in Kiev, he will try to get a meeting with President Vladimir Zelensky to talk about the current situation.
